Lynn's story
Joining the team in 2016, Lynn is one of our disability support workers, providing care to Programmed clients in South Australia. Looking after two clients on a daily basis, Lynn is up early and at her first client’s home by 7am to help him get out of bed and ready for the day and then heads to her next client’s house to assist him to get ready for school. Back and forth between client’s homes all day, Lynn calls it a day once she has finished tidying up after dinner, prepared everything for the following morning and finally helped her client to bed for the night. Visiting her clients three times a day around breakfast, lunch and dinner, Lynn spends the majority of her working day assisting with personal and domestic care needs, including showering, dressing, preparing meals, medication management, physiotherapy and various memory games.
Partaking in a number of volunteering roles throughout her life, it was an easy decision to pursue a career in care when the time had come to leave the corporate world. Wanting to make a difference in someone’s life, Lynn enjoys helping people remain in their own home and receives the most joy out of seeing her clients smile, knowing she has made a difference to their day.
In between visits and on days off, you can usually find Lynn at the beach with her labrador, gardening or spending time with her children and grandchildren. Receiving the support she requires from Programmed Care and the availability of working flexible hours keeps Lynn motivated and eager to continue delivering her best work.
