Patrick's story

Patrick understands first-hand how important support is to those in need. When he was younger, his best friend developed a rare degenerative condition and he saw how support workers improved and assisted his daily living, and relieved the stress from his parents.

After completing a qualification in disability support, Patrick now works with Programmed in South Australia, where he looks after a portfolio of 15 clients. Most days involve a wide range of client services such as social support and outings, transport to appointments, meal preparation, cleaning and assisting with medication.

He enjoys the social aspect of caring for his clients, hearing their stories and getting to know people he may not otherwise have had the chance to meet.
