Thalia's story
Looking for a new opportunity after working in the spinal unit at some of Sydney’s busiest hospitals, Thalia was seeking a change and decided to try community work. The transition occurred relatively easily when she began working full-time with Amanda, a C1 ventilator-dependent quadriplegic, whom she met in the spinal unit and conveniently lives just down the road!
Although running life support in a home with no back up can be very confronting and challenging, Thalia admits the work is much more satisfying. Providing a more holistic approach to her work, Thalia enjoys the variety of work and relationships she has built with her colleagues. But most importantly Thalia relishes the strong relationship built with Amanda over the 16+ years they have been working together.
